2. 2019/2020 Wedding Trends: Different First Dances
3. More Entertainment Options
Clients are choosing to add more entertainment for guests who prefer, or are not able to, dance. Having more entertainment options helps keep your guests entertained longer since it gives them more than one thing to do.
Sometimes, dances are up to 3 hours (after dinner, cocktail hour and a ceremony) and clients have told us, “we can’t’ possibly have only music and expect people to dance for 3 straight hours.” We always reply, “we’ll play the music and try to keep them dancing, but sure, more entertainment options are always great, too!”
Other entertainment options that we often include are photo or video booth, Karaoke, lawn & giant games, “old school” gaming system (Nintendo, Atari, Super Nintendo, Sega games), giant marquee letter rentals (like the word LOVE) and even game show type games that we can host.
4. Personalized Props & Decor

Something new, we’re noticing, is more personalized decor items and even props at the photo booth. We saw these 2019/2020 wedding trends starting in late 2019. We’ve seen people provide full-size cutout props for people to take photos with, or even take photos with at the photo booth. Clients will have the wedding couple or the guest of honor cutout.
We’ve also seen the “big head cutouts.” You may have seen them at events, recently. They’re very new and trending. They are literally “big heads” of the couple or guest of honor. These are perfect for weddings, bachelor or bachelorette parties, retirement parties, etc.
You can order them as a 12″ X 18″ prop, or even get them as large as 3 feet! They’re a lot of fun to see and the guests seem to love them!
5. More Food/Drink Options
While this was certainly part of the 2019/2020 wedding trends, great food is always a major part of any wedding or event! Lately, many clients have been adding late-night snacks, which have been a major hit! We’ve seen S’mores bars, popcorn, make your own cotton candy bars, candy bars, ice cream bars, and much more! After a long event, most people can’t resist a tempting, late-night snack! 🙂
6. Color Changes
We’ve noticed that people are moving away from simply using the venue’s lighting and candlelight for their reception area. Nearly every couple and client is now choosing to add more colors to their reception, which we love! How? They’re booking uplighting to match the decor and theme colors.
The most popular colors have been Amber, White, as well as Pink, and Blush. Uplighting is a great way to really change the venue. If you want your guests to walk in and say “wow,” uplighting is a way to do just that!
Overall, there are many more 2019/2020 wedding trends we’re seeing, but these are the most common trends for late 2019 and early 2020 weddings. Contact us to discuss your details and how we can help you plan and implement these trending ideas at your wedding, quinceanera, party, or event!
