PARTY DJ AUSTIN
Wedding & Event Planning Tips
Relax, we're here to help!
One of the most forgotten moments that we see, when we provide our DJ services for weddings in the Austin and central Texas area, is the wedding prelude or pre-ceremony songs. The prelude is the time before the actual start time of the ceremony. It's usually 15-30 minutes long, but can be shorter or longer, if needed. Most couples will pick some of their favorite songs that perhaps may be too slow to play during the dance. Song choices vary from classical, to Top 40, to Country. Whatever songs you choose, choose the songs that you and your significant other truly love!
Also, when you're planning your wedding day timeline, remember that the prelude is when the DJ, band, or live musician will start playing, and charging for service time. Many people will purchase 4, 5, or 6 hours, and start the time from when the actual ceremony starts, which is when the parents and/or bridal party begin to walk down the aisle. So if it's a 5 hour wedding, and the ceremony starts at 4 pm, the 5 hours will begin at 4 pm and end at 9 pm.
For DJs, musicians and bands, who charge by the hour, the prelude is not included. Many people will include a 30 minute prelude, to start at 3:30 pm (if the wedding ceremony starts at 4 pm). This additional 30 minutes changes the service time, so be sure to plan accordingly, and purchase the additional 30 minutes, if needed. We see couples every month, add a prelude and not realize that it will add the extra time. There are many DJs and musicians who charge a flat rate, for all day service, but this rate is often much higher than those who charge hourly rates. We know of a DJ service who offers flat rate, all day pricing, but that all day rate is $2000! Yikes! We are very fair with our clients and charge only for the time you will actually need. We will not charge you extra, such as a flat rate, for time you may need. So be aware and be sure to not forget the prelude!

We had another great weekend of weddings in the Central Texas area. Saturday evening, we had a wedding at Red Ridge, in Smithville, TX. Above, is a picture of the Mariachi group playing for the head table. It was a fun evening. Congratulations to our bride and groom Reyna and Steven!
The above two pictures are of our wedding at Thurman's Mansion, in Driftwood, TX. Congrats to our bride and groom, Megan and Erik! Everyone had a blast taking pictures at the photo booth, all night, and dancing, all night, too! Of course the dinner from Salt Lick Barbecue was amazing, too!
Also on Sunday, we had a wedding ceremony and reception at Vuka, in Austin, TX. The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time, dancing to music with our DJ, Jimmy! Congrats to our couple, Paige and John!
This Veteran's Day weekend, we had a great time providing DJ and photo booth services for weddings and events in and around Austin and Central Texas! We had a great time and more importantly, our clients had an amazing time!
For our first event, we provided a DJ for Menchaca Elementary school. This was the very first dance that they ever had and we were honored that they chose us to provide their music and entertainment! It was a "family dance" and so lots of parents and relatives came to have a great time with the students! Everyone had a great time and danced from start to finish! They had such a great time they immediately hired us for their Spring Carnival, right after the dance! Here's a video, below, of the dance.
Saturday morning, we provided a DJ for the UT Army ROTC tailgate, at the UT campus! This was a great event and hundreds of people stopped by! It was great to see the Army parachute team fly into the stadium, the jets and all the fireworks, too! What a great Veteran's Day celebration!
Saturday afternoon, we provided a DJ for a Lord of the Rings themed wedding, at Abel's on the Lake! Wow, they definitely tied in the theme. The tables were named after characters, the bride's dress was similar to the dress worn in the movie, the cake was topped with Lord of the Rings characters, too! Of course the couple was introduced to the Lord of the Rings "Concerning Hobbits" song, too! It was a great time!
Saturday night, we provided a DJ and photo booth for a fun wedding, at the Hummingbird House! We LOVED their cake of the UT stadium. It was very detailed and even had the scoreboard of USC vs, UT! By far, one of the best cakes we've seen in a while. Here's a picture of that great cake, below!
All the guests had a great time and our DJ, Jaime, took a great picture of the last song of the night, below.
Overall, it was a great weekend and we're always happy to be a part of so many weddings and events, every weekend! Thank you, Austin & Central Texas!

We had another awesome weekend of events, as always! Here's a brief recap and some photos of the events.
For our first event, we provided a DJ and photo booth for a wedding. Friday night, at Palazzo Lavaca, in downtown Austin. Congratulations to our couple, Jake and Lindsey, on their big day! Wow, their guests came ready to party! Everyone had a blast taking pictures at the photo booth, and dancing to a variety of music, all night! Below is a picture of the dance floor!
On Saturday, we had the pleasure of working at the New Worlds 2016 S.T.E.A.M Space Education Fundraiser and Costume Ball, at The Rennaisance Hotel, in Austin! It was great to see everyone dressed up in costumes and the space theme was equally awesome! Here are a few pictures from this event, below!
Sunday, we were back at Palazzo Lavaca for a great evening wedding! We provided a DJ for the ceremony and cocktail hour. A pianist played music for the reception, while we provided the MC. We LOVED the cake look-alike bobble heads and their unique "Meatloaf" sign! :) Here are a few pictures from that event, below.
Our other Sunday wedding was held at Thurman's Mansion, in Driftwood. This was a great celebration and we loved the couple's second dance, with their son! Overall, we love being able to help our clients celebrate their special moments and events, every weekend in Austin and Central Texas! Thank you Austin!

Last Sunday, we had the honor of providing music for a great Sunday wedding, at Mercury Hall, in Austin! For their first dance, Gabriela and Fernando had a close friend, play an acoustic song and sing, live! Wow, he blew us all away with his talent! I couldn't help but wonder if he was actually famous, because he sang so amazing! :) We played a great mix of songs and everyone had a blast! It was great to hear someone at the end of the night come up to us and say "wow, I had so much fun! I had to take my shoes off because I danced so much. I can't even walk!" We hear this, often, and we LOVE it! :)
Below, is a quick video of the bride and groom, during "La Vibora De La Mar" (the Sea Snake). This is a traditional Mexican cultural game for weddings. The bride and groom are in chairs, held by guests, holding the veil, while other guests form a line (snake), and run through the middle area. The tempo of the song gets faster and faster, and the line will bump into the bride or groom, while the guests try to keep them from falling. Traditionally, the bouquet and garter toss are done from the bride or groom on the chairs, after. Here are the videos of the bride and groom, below! It's always fun to see!
