"How much are photo booths for weddings?" This is one of the most frequently asked questions we see every week, all year long! We also get similar questions, such as how much are photo booth rentals for quinceaneras, parties, etc. Let's discuss these different events and why the pricing may vary, if it does vary.
Let's start with the first question, how much are photo booth rentals for weddings? Everyone has heard that some businesses add a "wedding tax" for weddings. Is this true? The answer isn't easy, but the truth is, it may be true. Do businesses hear the word "wedding" and sound the price increase alarms? Unfortunately, some businesses do this. We do not, though. Our pricing is based on the event needs, number of guests, location of the event, time, date, time of year, etc. We do not offer one price for every event, since every event is different. An event with 50 guests is far different than an event with 5,000 guests. What we'll need to bring also varies.
For most companies, this pricing is also the case, but not all. We've done our research and have seen that there is a variety of prices that range from as little as $200 for a 3-hour photo booth rental (think Groupon or Craigslist - is Craigslist still around?), and as much as $4,000 for a 4 hour photo booth rental (think of the MirMir Photo Booth rental that the stars use for their events). What's the difference between the $200 photo booth rental and the $4,000 photo booth rental? Honestly, it can be a big difference, or only a slight difference, depending on the company. You'll have to do your research to compare the differences between the cheap photo booth company and the very expensive photo booth company. How Much do Photobooth Rentals Cost For Quinceaneras?
When it comes to quinceaneras (a 15th birthday celebration in Latin cultures), we are the pros in the Austin, San Antonio, and central Texas market. We are hired to provide quinceanera DJs, photo booths, and more, for quinceaneras, every month, all year long! A lot of people also wonder if companies charge more for events such as these, since they can be very similar to weddings and are a once-in-a-lifetime event. The answer is, again, yes, it's possible that people upcharge for their services. As we stated above, we charged based on the event needs, and not the type of event it is.
The price for photo booth rentals for quinceaneras, Sweet 15s, and Sweet 16s, are all similar to the price range above, which is as little as $200, up to $4,000, for 4 hours of services. How Much Are Photo Booth Rentals For Parties?
The last popular question we get is the question above. We've noticed that when people have parties, the budget is much different than for a wedding, quinceanera, or major event. A party is simply a fun, get-together. There usually isn't a ton of planning, months in advance. We've found that people don't want to spend a lot for party entertainment, since it's usually not a major, lifetime moment, which is understandable. If you don't have the time or energy to DIY anything, consider having a social media booth. You'll get the same photo booth set up, but just with direct uploading to social media, and no on-site printing. Some companies will charge less for the social media-only option, but not all companies. We do charge less for our social booth. :)

2. How much experience does the company have, or how long have they been in business?
3. Do they have social proof, such as recent reviews, recommendations on Social Media or other websites?
4. What is the main difference between the "top companies" and this business?
How to Compare Photo Booth Rental Companies
If you've answered the above questions and you're satisfied with the company's answers, then it's time to compare this company versus the other companies. Consider the following things.
1. What type of equipment will this company use, versus their competitors?
2. Do they offer the same services, such as on-site printing, social media uploads, text on the photo strips, etc.?
3. If they offer the same things, are they included in the price? If not, how much will they cost?
4. Do they offer different types of photo booths, such as an open-air photo booth rental, or a traditional, enclosed photo booth?
5. If they have the open-air, do they offer different backdrops? What colors and types do the offer? What is included in the price?
Overall, be sure to get the answers to all of the above questions and any other questions you can think of. You may find out that the "cheaper" or "inexpensive" photo booth rental company offers the exact same services, for much cheaper than the very well-known companies. Many times, newer companies will often be priced lower, initially, or for a much longer time. Since these companies are new, they need to attract clients and often choose to do this by having lower rates. The most popular entertainment option for weddings and events, besides a DJ, is a photo booth rental (also sometimes spelled as photobooth). Well over 70% of our bookings are for both a DJ and photo booth. Some call it a "picture booth," and others may call it a "selfie booth." Whatever you call it, a photo booth is a great, fun entertainment option! Your guests are sure to have hours of fun, taking selfies with a photo booth!
Photo Booth Rental Cost
If you decide to add a photo booth to your event, you definitely need to know the cost. Every photo booth company offers different options, for different prices. You'll find some really expensive photo booth rates, and some really cheap photo booth deals on sites like Craigslist or Groupon, but be cautious! We've booked plenty of DJ and photo booth gigs at the last minute, because that client booked someone else, who simply took their money.
It's very hard to believe that people do this, but it happens more often than you think. We're not knocking either of these sites, as they are simply platforms for vendors to advertise and acquire business. We are knocking the unprofessional vendors who do this to clients, month after month! :(
So let's get back to the cost.The photo booth rental cost in the Austin and central Texas area (and most other markets in the US) ranges from as low as $250, to as much as $1,500, for a 3 - 4 hour booking. The best way to compare is to find out what's included with each company. We are very experienced and offer the exact same photo booths as the companies who only provide photo booths.
The biggest difference between the $250 photo booth and the $1,500 photo booth is usually what's included, as well as how well known the company is. The newer companies often start off with lower prices, simply to "get their name out there" and get as many bookings as possible. Some companies will use the old "bait and switch" routine, using the lower price to get your attention, but include next to nothing for the $300. You'll likely have to pay extra for props, a non-white (plain) backdrop, printouts, etc. Be sure to ask questions about what's included, and read all the fine print in the contract, if there is one. If there's not a contract, and it's a low price, RUN! :)
The more established companies (the companies you'll find on page 1 of Google), have been in business longer or are often part of a national franchise (which means they have the advantage of multiple locations, nationwide and much more website traffic, due to this). I won't get into how this all works, because that's an entirely different blog, but it's basically due to SEO and website traffic. :) These companies are going to be the ones that likely charge you closer to the $1500 price. Not to say that they don't offer a great product, because they certainly do, but definitely do your homework and compare photo booth companies and narrow down your list to your top 3.

New Year's Eve is a big deal, every year, everywhere! If you're planning to book a DJ, rent a photo booth, or book a band, then it's time to book as soon as possible! Why? Because there are a limited number of DJ and photo booth companies and for certain holidays, such as Halloween and New Year's Eve, many more people and businesses will choose to have a special event to celebrate.
When we say many more, we mean far more than the usual number of events happening around the Austin/central Texas area. Numerous DJs, bands, musicians, photo booths, and entertainers get booked for bars, clubs, and restaurants all over Austin, central Texas, and of course all over the entire country! This creates a limited supply, but a much higher than usual demand. Not to give you an economics lesson, but you likely already know that supply and demand drive the prices for services.
So to answer the title question, "how much do DJs and photo booths cost for NYE," is not an easy question to answer. The answer is, it depends on who you ask. Some companies will truly take advantage of this and charge far higher rates than usual. Some companies will literally charge double their normal rates, simply because they know they can. :(
We choose not to do this. We run our business with integrity and choose to not take advantage of these situations. Be aware, though, we are one of very few companies who don't do this. :( Don't believe me? inquire with any DJ, band, or photo booth company, and ask about booking any other Monday, (NYE is on a Monday, this year) or even a Friday or Saturday night. Find out their rates, and then inquire about booking that SAME company, after you have their first quote,of course, for a New Year's Eve event. You'll see the obvious price difference.
We charge our regular rates and may add a little more, but only because we pay higher than normal pay rates to our DJ and photo booth staff to work holidays. We get it, it's a holiday and most people don't like to work holidays. So we offer a holiday rate and bonus for our staff. We want to be fair and keep our staff happy. Happy staff = happy clients, and happy staff + happy clients = happy business owners, so everyone wins! This is similar to what many companies offer their employees for working a holiday. No one likes working for companies who don't offer holidays off or at least holiday pay. At least we don't, anyway.
The hard part for us is that because so many people love to celebrate NYE, we often have a really hard time finding staff to work these events. This creates an even more limited supply and demand. :( We'll usually book 1-2 events and that's all we can book. Not because we want to limit the supply, but because we just don't have the staff who are available to work.
We know everyone loves to celebrate NYE! There's something magical about ringing in the new year with all of your close friends and family. Some people will go out and celebrate it at their favorite place, others may have a party with their close friends and family, and others may simply sleep through it all. haha :)
Regardless of what you choose to do to celebrate the new year, if you choose to have an event or party, you need to book your DJ, book a band, or rent a photo booth for your event as soon as possible! We literally mean, BEFORE Thanksgiving, to ensure you get the best DJs, bands, or photo booth rentals for your event. Don't get stuck paying high rates for terrible service! :(

We can't speak for every company, but we will tell you about how our company does things and give you an idea of what other companies do, as well. Simply put, yes, some companies may charge more for weddings, than other events. The bottom line for us: NO, we don't charge more for weddings versus other events! These are just some of the many factors that go into the pricing of photo booth services. Other factors that may influence photo booth pricing are: your market area (a wedding in Manhattan will be far more expensive than a wedding in Lubbock, Texas), the company's reputation and length of time in business (new companies, just starting out will always charge less, just to get the business), and many other factors. Be ready to discuss all of the above details with every photo booth company you contact.
One last word of advice: ALWAYS get a contract and read their reviews! If they don't provide you with a contract, don't do business with them! If they don't have any recent reviews or any reviews, be careful! Many companies will get bad reviews, and simply take down their business info from all sites, create a new business name, and start all over. They know the importance of reviews, and the impact of bad, recent reviews. so if they have no recent reputation, ask them why?
As shady as this sounds, it happens A LOT in our industry. :( We've gotten many calls from people who's DJ or photo booth provider took their deposit (often 50% of the fees) and vanished! This is TERRIBLE! We hate these calls and are glad to book with them because we know, without a doubt, we'll NEVER, I repeat, NEVER, do this!
