People remember two main things from a wedding: the music and the food. You have total control over both. When you're planning your wedding music, we know you want your wedding to be different from the rest. Talk to your DJ or band about what songs you'd like to hear for cocktail hour, dinner and the dance. If you don't want to be too specific, at least tell them what songs you want for your first dance and other key moments.

When it comes to the traditional mother-son dance, we've seen numerous choices for this special moment. As we previously stated, the mother-son dance is a very special moment for parents! It's certainly a milestone moment in a parent's life. That being said, how can you possibly come up with just one perfect song, to capture a lifetime of memories? Sorry, no pressure! :) Try not to overthink it. Just choose a song that speaks to you and your parent.
If you have a step-parent, or someone else in your family who is just as close to you, you can always do multiple songs. We've also seen people use just one song, but split the time between parents or relatives. Tradition or not, this is your big day, so you do what works best for you. That being said, if you need some suggestions, here are our top 15 most popular mother-son wedding songs.
We hope this list has been helpful. Feel free to visit our YouTube channel for lots of great playlists to help you plan the big day!

Though this song came out 11 years ago, this song is still perfect for the couple's grand entrance, as well as a great send-off song!
"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" - Elton John
Yes, we all know the song from the "Lion King" movie, from 1994, but it's still a good song for weddings. We've played this song for a grand entrance, as well as other moments, such as cake cutting, or during dinner and cocktail hour.
"What a Wonderful World" - Louis Armstrong
This song is timeless and is a great song that we've often played for a first dance and parent dances.
"Unchained Melody" - Righteous Brothers
This is a great song that we have played for the first dance, for the anniversary dance, and if not for a key moment, it's just a great song that usually gets the couples dancing!
"How Sweet it is to be Loved by You" - James Taylor
We often play this song for the cake cutting moment, but have also played it for the couple recessional song.
"Somewhere Over the Rainbow" - Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole
This song is a great song that we have played for the first dance, parent dances, wedding processional and recessional, or just as a great reception song.
Other songs that we often play for parent dances are: The Beach Boys "God Only Knows," and Celine Dion "Because You Loved Me." Another example of timeless songs are songs from Journey. We often play "Don't Stop Believing," and "Open Arms," for key moments and often as a send-off song. For the anniversary dance, we have played "After All These Years."

Whether you're looking for wedding party entrance songs, wedding exit or send-off songs, wedding cake-cutting songs, or just new wedding songs for your 2018 wedding, we've got you covered. We're here to help make planning your wedding music less stressful!
Whether you're booking a wedding DJ, live musicians or a band, the music selections are very important. Great music makes the celebration fun! On the other hand, bad music can change the mood, too. With that being said, here are a few tips to help you pick great music for your wedding or event!
1. Remember to Include Everyone
You and your fiancee may have unique taste in music and you may both love to listen to great songs and artists that no one else knows, yet. Or maybe you LOVE some classic Radiohead (great band), but be sure to remember that your guests may not have the exact same taste in music. Try to include some genres for all your guests, from ages 5 - 95! You don't have to, of course, but it's a good idea to, so that everyone gets to hear music and dance, even if it's just for a little while. You want to look back and remember your parents, grandparents, friends and family all having fun! Your photographer and videographer will capture those great moments for your lifetime memories!
2. Blend Your Tastes, Too
Even though you want to be sure to include music for everyone, be sure to include your favorite must-play songs and artists, too! If you love music that perhaps isn't danceable, then you could always play those great songs during dinner, the prelude (when guests are arriving), or cocktail hour, too. This is your big day, so be sure your celebration includes your personalities and tastes!
3. Do You Research
Stuck on what songs to play? Maybe you KNOW your mom and dad love 70s & 80s music, but you don't quite remember what songs they really love. Just ask them! You can always send out an email, or add something to your Facebook invite or wedding website, that says: "What are 2 songs that will make you get up and dance?" Then, when you get the responses, you can filter through them and send them to your DJ or band, to include in the set list (DJs will be able to do this, easier, of course, but bands can at least know what style to play).
4. Use ABDJs' Online Library
Whether you're our client or not, we're still here to help you. If you're stuck trying to figure out what songs to play for genres you don't really listen to, and you've already asked your guests for suggestions, with limited success, you're not stuck. If you listen to only one genre of music, and not familiar with others, visit the Billboard Top 100 Hits for new song ideas and top genre hits, too.
We've already seen a few trends for key moment songs, too. "Perfect," by Ed Sheeran, is quickly becoming a top First Dance song, for many couples. It's great song and perfectly fits the occasion! We've also seen that Elton John songs are making a come back for key moments, cocktail hour, and dinner. It's hard to beat the Elton John classics. They're perfect for weddings!
If you need ideas for other genres, or even song suggestions for wedding key moments, like the first dance, parent dances, etc., check out our online library. Simply visit our online music library page and click on the "popular lists" tab, for plenty of helpful song suggestions.
