The Top 20 Must-Play Halloween Party Songs!

Top 20 Must-Play Halloween Party Songs

So the end of October is already here, and you know what that means in Austin/central Texas? It’s COOLER WEATHER, first of all, and second, it’s Halloween time! Yessss! Halloween is one of our favorite times of the year! The time where adults can be a kid, again, and dress up in great costumes! Kids can have a blast, dressing up in their favorite costumes, too!

Besides that, it’s normally a great time to have a fun Halloween party! I know this year is far different than other years, due to Covid. We usually have the privilege of providing DJs and photo booth rentals for several fall festivals, and school Halloween dances, every year, but not this year, unfortunately. We did do one or two events, but most schools and organizations are opting not to do public events.

Whether you have a small party with just your family or a socially distanced party, you know that you can’t have a party without having great music! To put you in the mood for this, we’ve decided to create a fun Halloween party songs playlist for you to enjoy.

Many of these fun songs are must-play Halloween party songs that we will be playing at our Halloween events, too! 🙂 Yes, these are the exact songs on our Halloween party playlist! You now got an inside look. 🙂 If you don’t know the song, just click on the title to hear it.

Top 10 Halloween Songs

So here are a few of our favorite Halloween songs to play:

  1. “Thriller” – Michael Jackson – You simply can’t have a Halloween party without playing this classic! Adults and kids alike, all know and love the song, and surprisingly, many kids actually know the Thriller moves, even though it came out in 1982! Talk about a timeless classic and the video is still awesome! 🙂
  2. “Ghostbusters” – Ray Parker Jr. – Okay, so we know you secretly still love this song and the movie, too! Whether you love the old movie or the new remake, you can’t go to a Halloween party and not hear this song!
  3. “Monster Mash” – Bobby Borris – Okay, so this song is VERY old! We remember hearing it every year, growing up, along with Thriller. Believe it or not, this song came out in 1962 and still gets requested every Halloween! If you haven’t seen the video, you should watch his live performance. 🙂
  4. “Somebody’s Watching Me” – Rockwell – This 80’s classic is still a great song and perfect for your Halloween bash! Ironically, today, it’s somewhat normal to feel like “somebody’s watching and you have no privacy.” 🙂
  5. “Freaks Come Out at Night” – Whodini – So this song isn’t as popular as the above songs, but it’s still a great song to add to your playlist! This 80’s hit is still fun to play!
  6. “Maneater” – Hall & Oates – This is another 80’s classic that gets requested at Halloween events. The ’80s was a great time for music!
  7. “Purple People Eater” – Sheb Wooley – Yes, this is another great Halloween classic! 🙂
  8. “A Nightmare on My Street” – Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff – This song is still a great song to play at your party, even though the “Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise has kind of gone away.
  9. “Highway to Hell” – AC/DC – This classic rock hit is a great song for an adult party. It’s still a pretty iconic song, even though it was released back in 1979!
  10. “Black Magic Woman” Santana – So this song isn’t quite Halloween, but it fits perfectly with the themes of witches and “black magic.” 🙂
